How do I turn an Instagram video into text?
- Get the video. Save a copy to your device. Open the Instagram transcript tool, select Upload file, and choose the video.
- Choose the spoken language. Select the language you hear, or leave Auto-detect on. Press Transcribe.
- Export your transcript. Review the words. Choose Download TXT for reading or Download SRT for timed subtitles.
Same video, two exports
We matched all ten entries from one video by their order in our TXT and SRT files. Here are three you can compare directly. Times below are seconds from the start of the video.
| Entry | TXT start | SRT start | SRT end |
|---|
| 2 | 5 | 5.440 | 7.360 |
| 9 | 33 | 33.440 | 38.720 |
| 10 | 39 | 39.360 | 43.600 |
Looking for the second phrase? The TXT mark takes you to the right second. Making subtitles? Starting at that mark would put the words on screen 0.440 seconds before the SRT cue. The SRT also leaves a 0.640-second gap between entries 9 and 10. TXT has no end marks, so you cannot recover that gap from its timestamps alone.
